the daughters of the king
Daughters of the King are dedicated Episcopal women who are identified by the silver Greek cross we wear habitually as a reminder that we cannot live a day without Christ in our lives. We live out our vows daily through a Rule of Prayer and a Rule of Service. Daughters meet to support each other and study as we grow in grace and service to God and others. We are the St. Margaret of Scotland Chapter, and we meet on the first Monday of each month from September through June (and throughout the summer in 2017). Any woman in our Church seeking a life of Prayer, Service and Evangelism, which is the purpose of the Order, please feel free to speak to any member. GROWERS GROUP
Comprised of people who enjoy working in the landscape, The Growers Group donates time and skills to maintain our grounds. They manicure the walkways, trim shrubs, sweep pavements, and plant and maintain flowers. These volunteer services, together with some professional services, make St. Alfred's a place of beauty and a witness to our community. We keep our grounds clean and our landscape colorful in each season.

men's morning prayer group
This group welcomes any and all men of the church, and friends, to join us in saying the Morning Prayer service from The Book of Common Prayer, and offering intercessory prayer. We meet at 7 a.m. every Thursday morning, year round, in the Parish Center Conference Room, and conclude with coffee,
refreshments and fellowship.

pastoral care - Lay Eucharistic visitation
In addition to pastoral calling done by the clergy, a small, but dedicated group of laypeople gives of their time to visit and take Holy Communion to parishioners who are ill, hospitalized, homebound or in nursing homes. We have developed a reporting system that enables both clergy and laity to record their visits, but we do encourage the help of the parish. Due to HIPAA regulations, hospitals may no longer notify a church that a congregant is a patient, so if you know of someone who has been hospitalized, or who needs other pastoral care (home Communion, home visit, name on the prayer list, etc.) please call Fr. David Hall at 802-279-1801.

the pilgrimage
The Pilgrimage healing ministry is a unique process that joins together two trained members of a healing team and the client. The healers are trained in The Pilgrimage Integrative Healing Process, which is headquartered right here in St. Alfred's Church. A session includes healing touch, presence, meditation and prayer. Upon request, healing partners are also available to deliver the Pilgrimage process to clients in hospitals, nursing homes or their own homes.

STARFISH MINISTRY
The Starfish Ministry meets at 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month in Reister Hall. This dedicated group comes together to break down 250 or more pounds of rice into 1½ cup portions that benefit DayStar Life Center in St. Petersburg, which serves the homeless. St. Alfred's provides DayStar with a minimum of 2,400 pounds of pre-bagged rice, or about ¼ of the amount they need each year. It takes us 30 minutes to bag the rice, and then there is time for refreshments and fellowship. All are welcome to participate in this outreach ministry.

The purpose of our ministry is to unite the women of the parish in a program of service for the Church in the parish, the community, the diocese, the nation and the world. We focus on outreach activities in the community and special projects at St. Alfred's, and sponsor fundraising events to achieve our goals. Among our activities are involvement in mission and ministry, the United Thank Offering, the Church Periodical Club, and special projects. In 2015 we inaugurated our first joint venture in mission with the Homeless Empowerment Project (HEP) by co-sponsoring the highly successful Inspire With Attire project, and we have repeated that project each year.

WOMEN'S NIGHT OUT
Women's Night Out is a ministry of, by and to women through conversations over food and wine or soft drinks. Attendees are married, widowed, divorced, single, caregivers, homemakers, businesswomen, volunteers and retirees, who enjoy fellowship around the table with friends. Food consists of whatever is brought by those who attend. We sit at covered round tables that are attractively prepared with appropriate table settings and centerpieces or decorations. We talk all through the evening, and laugh a lot. No meetings! No dues! No plastic ware! No dishes to wash! Women from all three services have joined us, and sometimes bring relatives or friends. There is always room for more! We assemble in Reister Hall at 6:30 p.m. on the third Friday of each month, year round. All women of the church and your guests are welcome. Come and spend a relaxing evening of fun and fellowship that concludes at about 8:30.
